Hotel has a great location but little else to recommend it. Is a faded shadow of a (former) 5 star hotel, under extensive and much needed renovations. The only elevator has been broken for 3 days. Stairs are tilted and difficult to climb. Breakfast is average and service is terrible even though not crowded. For example, coffee comes slowly, one cup at a time, on the cold side. Apparently no front doorman to help hail taxis or to help with luggage. Concierge was helpful with dinner reservations.
"Exceptional Service! Very pleased!!"
Our stay here was amazing. I would not have known they were going through renovations if I couldn't tell from the outside and had known ahead of time. The staff was absolutely incredible. They went above and beyond. From helping us hail cab's, recommending restaurants, routes to take, anything at all we needed, they assisted us.. always incredibly friendly and professional. One of us had a fall in the lobby and the staff was so wonderful. Walked us up to our room, offered a doctor, double checked on us the following day. Complimentary bottles of wine sent to our room. Daniella, was top notch!! So kind. The breakfasts were amazing every day. Our room was great. I have zero complaints and wish I could say more. It was easy to get around with bus stops in front, and a metro station right behind the hotel. The fresh lemon and orange water in the lobby was always a nice treat after a day of walking. If I ever make it back to Paris, I will for sure be staying at Hotel du Louvre! Thank you everyone there for making our trip so wonderful!!! :)
"Great choice if you can get a good rate"
We had a fantastic one night stay at Hotel du Louvre. We stayed on points. I have been to Paris twice before. Advantages: - Terrific location... We had a balcony (standing only) overlooking the Louvre. You can walk so many places from here and the metro is twenty feet away. - Charm - so much history and the common areas are gorgeous. - Service - excellent and professional staff. - Extras - big and fluffy towels, robes, complimentary Evian in the room. Disadvantages - Rooms a bit worn - renovation should help. - Potential cost - some rates we saw were wild. I see this as a 4 star, 250 Euro type hotel. For the room we had I would be very unhappy paying 400 Euro but for 250 it would be great.
Despite undergoing a major refurbishment we had a warm welcome and our room was perfect. The staff were very professional and made our stay relaxing. The restaurant was no nonsense. A very good breakfast selection and a straight forward dinner menu with a no nonsense wine list. We look forward to returning.
"Undergoing much needed renovation . . ."
Have stayed here about 5 times due to its convenient location and thought it was in need of decoration, having visited a different hotel this time I noticed this place was shut undergoing renovation, it was recently purchased by the Hyatt Hotel group. It's location is great, the staff are friendly and very quirky bar décor, I do hope they keep it!
