"Anniversary visit to Dublin"
Despite not being in the city centre, this hotel is not far from a tram stop, a relaxing journey into the city. The staff were always pleasant, a great quirky hotel. The room was beautiful, with a large bathroom, all tastefully decorated. A DJ there both nights gave a great atmosphere. The Thai restaurant was amazing, prompt service and beautiful food. Would definitely go there again
"Visiting Friends in Dublin"
From check in to check out we fell completely in love with this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were friendly and attentive without exception. The room was beautiful with a view over to Dublin Bay, a huge bathroom with every amenity. Free wifi and coffe/tea making and a fridge. We upgraded to include breakfast and were we glad we did. Set out in buffet style it had every single thing you could wish to eat for breakfast, fruit both dried and fresh. Cereal, hot and cold buffet, juice and smoothie and every type of tea and coffee, different types of bread and pastries, I would stay again for the breakfast alone. The hotel is bright, cheerful and has a lovely atmosphere. I would return at the drop of a hat.
"Marco saves the day "
My husband and I have been traveling to Dublin once a month for the past 6+ years. Our stay is partly business (I am Chairperson of an Dublin based organisation) and pleasure. We have stayed in most of the hotels in the south side of Dublin. We booked this hotel for 2 nights last month. Our stay included breakfast and an evening meal on both evenings. Our first impression of The Beacon was positive. The reception staff were on the ball. The room we were allocated was an executive room (room 609) and it was spacious with a large bed. Unfortunately it needs attention. The pillows are old and lumpy, the shower leaks, there aren't enough plugs for charging devices and the towels are skimpy. I recommend that the hotel also consider using divans/softer furnishings as a base and headboard option for their beds rather than the hard wood that is dated, unnecessarily hard and unforgiving. Our dining experience on the first evening was not good. Staff neglected us and the music from the DJ was blaring. The restaurant is open plan and perhaps this might be reconsidered' Marco, the restaurant manager, saved the day though with his professionalism, genuineness and reticence. On our second evening in the restaurant Marco was true to his word and we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The staff were on point and it showed what this restaurant is capable of. Thank you Marco!
Staff lovely. Good food. Room not the greatest. Boutique hotel but those plastic chairs in room......not classy or comfortable. Burnt iron marks on carpet. Not great first impression. Shower leaks when used but a fantastic shower. Bath lovely. Quiet hotel but music in lobby annoying. Perfect location for what we needed.
Great location for City or Dundrum Very cool lobby with four poster bed seat and a pool table Amazingly cool room with huge bed, beautiful chaise longue and a gorgeous bathroom Will not stay anywhere else when visiting Dubln
