"Short stay in Florence "
Great location! Walking distance to major sights and attractions. The staff - especially Teresa - was extremely helpful. They helped us with tickets and dinner recommendations and reservations. Would come back and stay here.

"Oasis in centre of mediaeval Florence"
The Borghese Palace Art Hotel is located in the centre of the old city of Florence. It is a great base from which one can head out each day to explore Italy's most beautiful city. It is equidistant from the Palazzo Vecchio and Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (Florence Cathedral). The Uffizi and the Basilica di Santa Croce are also in easy walking distance. The hotel is part of a former 15th-century palace on the Via Ghibellina and as a result is a very characterful building in one of the oldest parts of the city. We occupied a junior suite (206), which was in the back of the building. This room was comfortable and clean, and when we requested additional pillows these were quickly brought up to our room. All of the staff are unstintingly helpful, and happily provide recommendations on the best places to eat in Florence (and each of the trattoria that we were directed to were wonderful). The staff are happy to do what they can to help their guests. Breakfast is provided each morning and contains a wide variety of foods. A number of reviews have mentioned street noise. Since we were in the back of the hotel we may not have been exposed to it, but we did not find it to be oppressive. Although there was noise from people partying (which was most notable in Thursday to Saturday), it was what would be expected in any city-centre location. I was very happy to stay here when I visited Florence in May 2017, and I certainly intend to stay here when I return.
"Overrated, security is a concern"
I will not stay here again. My travel companion and I spent two nights in May 2017. I can attest to the need for earplugs if you stay over a weekend. The reasons for the poor review are security and the quality of the furnishing/bathroom. The area outside of the breakfast room contains at least two chairs that are made of plastic. They look good, but I would not put a heavy person in them. I had reserved a superior room but the water temperature was inconsistent and the toiletry holder not placed well. Oh, and the sliding bathroom door was a puzzle to lock. We had to push it forward while pulling it closed in order to close and lock the door. But my main concern is security. We arrived early. The desk clerk said they would hold our bags. At most hotels, guests' bags are kept in a locked room or at least behind the desk. Our bags were piled with others on a luggage chart by the elevator. Anyone could have taken or broken into a bag. Based on that initial experience, I never really felt safe there. The breakfast was OK. The location is good.
"Great staff and spotless rooms"
Easy walking distance of Duomo and Uffizzi. Book for early visits before 10 or after 4pm enormous amounts of tourists. Ask staff about where to eat as food standard generally poor. A great Museum is the Museo de Innocenti. Cross the RNO AND VISIT THE BOboli Gardens but check opening times. Peaceful after the crowds.
