"Lovely hotel but in need of some attention"
I stayed here for 3 nights in July and had a lovely experience. The room was clean and comfortable and the facilities were adequate. The location of the hotel was also great - near to the centre and the main attractions. The breakfast was basic but fine (the coffee was surprisingly good despite coming from a self service machine). As I mentioned in the title - it could do with a bit of TLC as it's looking a bit tired in places, and if they do renovate PLEASE do away with the ridiculous shallow glass bathroom sink, which, whilst it may look nice to some people, is absolutely impractical - I had to wear a towel as a bib to stop water splashing all over me when I brushed my teeth (true story). On the whole, a quirky and cool hotel with friendly staff.
"Stylish hotel but in need of a little renovation"
A truly magnificent building which had been tastefully adapted into a quirky hotel, but is now in need of some modernisation, particularly in the bathrooms. Considering the hotel is listed as 4* it doesn't quite meet the standard. The staff were great and couldn't be more helpful especially when we were faced with a potential national transport strike the day we were due to fly home. The breakfasts were adequate but again were not what I would expect from a 4* hotel. Our room overlooked the street at the rear of the building and although comfortable, like other reviewers, we also suffered interrupted sleep from the nightclub every night as revellers made their way home at all hours. On a positive note the hotel is in a great position to walk to most places of interest and surrounded by a host of good restaurants.
We have just returned from this lovely hotel. It is in a good location not far from all the sights. All the staff were amazing. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful. They arranged a tour for us and sorted out a problem we had with the arranged pick up. They also suggested a train trip to Lucca and even printed out a list of train times/prices. Our room was facing the inner courtyard (not the street) and was very quiet. The room had all the usual things including safe and minibar. The bed was huge and the bathroom was cosy! The breakfast was good, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, pastries, cold meat and cheese, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs and bacon plus bread for toasting. There was also a coffee machine and a variety of fruit juices. Some of the reviews have said that the hotel needs a little update. It is a little tired in places but overall it is a great place to stay.
We stayed at the hotel for 4 days in a juniorsuit and enjoyed it very much. It is a very nice small hotel, situated perfectly in Florence and with an extraordenary kind, serviceminded and efficient staff.
"Old, worn and stale .. Disappointing"
Stayed at the palace art for four nights. Well located for all of the pizza's attractions and squares. However, the hotel was very disappointing. Room was fair with decor that needed a revamp as it seemed old. Shower was difficult to work out , it was either too hot or too cold. Lighting system needed some bulbs replacing. The facilities seemed to need a good clean. Bed was nice and confort able but it was very noisy at weekends. Breakfast was a joke I can't belive that they can serve cold scrambled eggs and chopped pancetta. The selection was poor with no fresh fruit or juice. All in all, and summing up a very poor stay in a hotel that we thought was luxury and of high standard.
