"Good location, walking distance. "
Older hotel that captures the art aspect of Florence. Good location and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The only hotel we stayed in Italy that breakfast wasn't included! I wasn't wowed by the rooms or anything particular about the hotel. Overall ok.
"A beautiful hotel."
A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. Amazing roof top bar with excellent cocktails and really lovely staff.....all very friendly, professional and helpful. The bar area is actually pretty small...and because it's so popular and can get quite busy...it's just a shame that it's not even just a little bit bigger. The rooms were comfortable and clean...and I can't fault it at all. Would definitely stay there again.
"The beds were sooooo comfortable."
Our family spent 4 nights in this beautiful hotel located only minutes from all the main attractions. The beds were the most comfortable of all the hotels throughout our 3 week trip in Italy. After a long day out it was fantastic to come back and enjoy the terrace with a view of the city. The mixologist on the terrace were highly skilled and would take the time to explain the drinks, the Smokey Old Fashion was delicious. The breakfast was good but after a few days of the same old thing it was wearing on us a little, there is only so much bread and cheese I can eat. The hotel staff was fantastic and would highly recommend this hotel.
"Lovely view from terrace bar but terrible service"
Six friends decided to meet on the rooftop terrace of the Grand Hotel Cavour for an aperitif. Only five of us showed up; the friend who made the reservation had to cancel last minute. The view is lovely BUT- it turns out that the reservation costs 18 per person, which included one drink, but we were only informed this at the end when we asked for the check. When we ordered we were shown a menu which had drink prices and NO MENTION was made of an 18 euro reservation fee. We each ordered a beer or wine, one person had a second glass of rosè and four people shared a second beer.We were given a MEASLY portion of hors d'oeuvres, perhaps three tiny plates with miniscule portions among five customers, and small portions of peanuts. That was it, and we had to ask repeatedly even to get that small amount. The view is still lovely though... When the bill was tallied up it came to 108 euros, because we were charged for the two extra drinks. peanuts. That was it, and we had to ask repeatedly even to get that small amount. No scontrino was produced, only a hand written bill-NOT LEGAL!! Also illegal not to advertise the 18 euro fee, but when we protested the manager arrived with an email written telling our friend about the 18 reservation fee. We were not able to confute that, as she had said that she had not heard back from them. So bottom line- lovely view but lousy service AVOID
"Good staff, well positioned "
We came for three days and booked a superior room. Where given Room 505 a tiny and noisy one. Next day I shared our poor experience and reception moved us to 609, bigger room at the last floor. Unfortunately, air conditioning was noisy and difficult to tune. Difficult to ask for a premium isolation in old buildings like this. I appreciated the staff reactivity. The hotel is beautiful, try the small gym, the ceiling is painting d"époque". Overall, we felt good in here.
