"Top location, old-style Vienna decor, and in-house top notch Italian restaurant."
Fabulous location, right in the heart of old Vienna, close to the Opera, shopping and even closer to the historical Stephansdom or St. Stephen's Cathedral, a symbol of freedom in the city. The Royal, which has two sister hotels (am Graben and Regina) is is a great place to stay as you can visit a host of places on foot and sample the sights of this wondrous city that has captivated artists, immigrants and been at the crossroads of history for centuries. If you want a more relaxing visit, catch the air-conditioned U-bahn or catch a cab. Delicious cooking, breakfast is a feast and lunch was exquisite.
"Nice Hotel with the Best Location in Town"
Took the train up from Budapest for four days in Vienna. Booked at the Royal Hotel. The hotel was located around the corner from St. Stephens. It has got to be the closest place to downtown and where it is all happening. The room was spacious, the water pressure full and hot and the beds comfortable. There was no street noise due to the double glazing and the a/c was nice and cool. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Ten different breads, cheeses, hams, yogurts, cereals, juices and scrambled eggs and sausages. Nothing was wanting on this side and it really had one energized for the day. Finally the staff were so friendly and helpful. I have often heard complaints of rude service staff in Austria but I can assure you, not in this place. I am sure the manager is very service oriented and I thank his staff for all the help they gave us. A great place to stay.
"Restaurant is the best!"
The location is great of course. The hotel is historical no doubts. Very nice place to stay if you are not looking for fancy. And the restaurant at the first floor is very good, one of the bests I have visited.
"Best Location In Old Town"
Our group of 8 seniors selected this location because it is right next to the main pedestrian only area of Old Town Vienna with most of the main sights, many shops and restaurants within a short walk of the Hotel Royal. This property is historically furnished and, understandably, some folks might find it dated. But we were comfortable. Service staff on the front desk and in the main restaurant, Firenze, were friendly and spoke excellent English. As it was raining the day we arrive for our three night stay in Vienna, we decided to dine in the main hotel restaurant which has large glass doors opening onto Singerstrasse and its outside dining area. Vehicular traffic is allowed up to that point, right next to outside seating so we opted to dine inside. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and is also served in the main floor restaurant. Breakfast guests can dine outside if they wish but be warned, local businesses place their trash bins outside in this area in the morning. Our rooms were on the 9th floor away from the buzz at street level so we all enjoyed a quiet night's rest. A couple of us tried the restaurant on the 10th floor, seating ourselves at the bar with the best view in town of the spectacular roof top of the Stephen Dom.
"The best center for museums"
My wife and I stayed for 4 nights. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was professional, courteous and helpful. The buffet breakfast was a great start for the day and the one early dinner in the outside cafe was very, very good with many choices. Hotel is at the center of the old city and all the major museums and art galleries are within casual walking distance. All of our lunches were at museum cafes and very good also. If you only have a few days in Vienna, this hotel is an excellent choice.
