I stayed at this location for the first time this year at a friend's strong recommendation. Boy it did not disappoint. The upgraded suite is fantastic with a view of the "bird's nest" and "water cube". The suite is spacious as is nicely decorated. The staff, every one from the front desk agents to door men and porters, are polite and doing their best to be helpful. And they are! Special thanks go to Jian, Lina and Xue for their effort in making my stay a memorable experience! In fact, I have already booked my one-week stay in late September. Look forward to coming back in the fall.
"My best hotel in Beijing - InterContinental Beijing Beichen"
I took a 2-week biz trip in different cities (including Beijing, Hong Kong, and UK). Beijing is the first station of my trip. InterContinental Beijing Beichen is my favorite hotel in Beijing, not only because I lived here for several times, but also due to its many excellent aspects, including very nice view (especially in the night) to the Bird Net stadium and Water Cube, convenience as it is located in the north center of this huge city, and very supportive and helpful staff. The senior manager (Mr. Jian Gao) and the ladies (Nina and Gene Yeh) recognized me when I checked in and provided quite a lot supports to my trip. The food (1F/3F Chinese and 2F Italy restaurants) is very impressive. I can even perform a morning running in the nearby Olympic park. All in all, I love this hotel and would definitely stay here for many other times.
"Good business hotel"
I stayed at this hotel for a short period of time. The hotel location is good. The staff were friendly and willing to help. I reached hotel very early (almost around 9am). I was very tired after a long midnight flight (which I couldn't sleep). So I was worry to wait till 2pm which is hotel's standard check-in time. But the reception lady was so kind and checked me in early and gave me a room. The bed and room size was perfect. I didn't book the breakfast as I had an early morning flight next day. So I have no idea about the breakfast. The reception told me as a IHG member, I have a complimentary free soft drink offer (as much as I want) from their restaurant (coffee shop') in lobby. But again I didn't use this service as I was out all day for my business meetings. Really don't know what was there included in this offer. Like all Intercontinental hotels, this hotel was clean and with high standard service.
"Good hotel with great service, but not central to the city"
The hotel was very nice, and close to a wide variety of places to eat and shop. The staff was very friendly, and the airport service from the hotel was flawless. The hotel had someone meet us at the gate as we got off the plane and walk us through baggage, passport control, everything. It was incredibly easy with the assistance of someone local to help. From there we were escorted to the car, and driven directly to the hotel. My only complaint is that the 'no smoking' policy doesn't seem that strictly enforced. There were people smoking next to the elevator on the 15th floor as I got off to go to my room. The room itself was fine, and did not smell of smoke at all.
"A decaying hotel "
Spending more than 140 nights every year on average with intercontinental hotel group, I came to this hotel first time in 2008, immediately after its launching for the Olympic. I booked the hotel for my family, sharing my experience with the state of the art hotel facility and a superb service. Since then, I visited this hotel with many of my clients till 2013. Then I stooped staying here. Due to a poorly planned visit in beijing, I have to spend one weekend in beijing. Driven by nostalgia and the free ambassador weekend voucher, my assistant who had a sport club card in the early time of the hotel, recommended me to spend the weekend here. I am fully and completely disappointed: 1. I found everywhere sign of decay, carpet, lift, room, towels, nothing is qualified as an intercontinental hotel. 2. The staffs become very dogmatic and trained with procedures, forgetting who pays their salary. I was not allowed to bring a club drink back to my room in a glass, but in a paper cup, how wonderful and tasteful! This should be standard procedure I have to obey as a guest. 3. Swimming pool lacks towels and small accessories, showing effect of cost saving. 4. The club has no more typical good wine and food for an intercontinental ambassador club, but rather at level of a holiday inn, that I love for good value. 5. Except few loyal friendly staffs in the health club, I met none known. The concierge staffs seem to be so friendly and professional, qualified as typical intercontinental concierge and significantly improved comparing to the past. 5. The sign of aging is everywhere and the managers seem not to care. I am a Esprit Club Ambassador of intercontinental hotel group IHG and feel so disappointed that I have to share my negative experience with my TripAdvisor fellows.
