Check-in was great with Davide. Since I was upgraded to a large room on the 5th floor (beautiful room with large walk in closet and large bathroom) and was by myself, he offered to stay with me. I told him, only if he was a good lover. Lol, we had a good laugh! The roof top restaurant is a perfect place to watch the sunset. 7-9pm they have a drink/happy hour buffet special for 20 euros. I didn't mind the service was bad, because I got to sit watch the sunset. My cappuccino was room temperature when I got it, but I didn't complain. Breakfast buffet was awesome and a must to do. Service was perfection. The location of hotel is walking distance from train station and everything I wanted to see, including Uffizi. I was very happy with my stay! Btw, I loved the extra long bath tub! You could be 6'5 and enjoy it.
I unexpectedly ended up staying here when another reservation fell through. It is great hotel that is situated right by the Arno. You could not ask for a better location. The entire hotel is so beautiful and everything in it is like a work of art; the stairs, the drapes, and all furnishings. The rooms are not large but the beds were comfortable. I enjoyed breakfast a lot. Coffee was great. There is a nice rooftop worth a visit for the views. Service was mostly great. Though, I did catch the bellhops referring to me as "Chinese" in Italian to each other a few times. I found it a bit annoying as I am not Chinese and I didn't think it was professional to refer to guests by what they believed was my perceived nationality. I did speak up to them about it and they were apologetic.
"Perfect in many ways!"
Where to begin' This hotel was a pleasant surprise; of course it was beautifully appointed with a fabulous location but the true gem at this hotel is its staff! Concierge Jaocopo, Front Desk Elisa (brunette) and everyone in between was polite with a genuine willingness to help. I cannot review the food because we did not dine in the hotel even once. The dining recommendations by the Concierge were on point every single time. I would highly recommend staying at the Westin Excelsior Florence and be sure to strike up a conversation with both of the above mentioned as I'm certain you too will find them charming and witty. Bravo Jaocopo and Elisa (brunette)!
"Everything Is Excellent at the Excelsior!"
We stayed for a week-plus at this Westin Hotel in the heart of Florence. From Massimo and his team at the concierge desk, to David and Costanza at Reception, to the amazing staff in the breakfast room, to the Lobby Bar with Emanuel--all great. Not to mention the well appointed and serviced rooms. Or the rooftop restaurant with the best views of the city. You could do no better/
"Top notch hotel"
Hotel property is very nice and clean...for the most part. Chairs in room a little dusty but bathroom and bed were very clean. Location is very central to walk to everything you will want to see in Florence. Request a room facing the Arno river, unless you prefer a city view. But, river view is the best in my opinion. 3rd floor is good, or higher. Food here is decent but we ate at small restaurants in the city and found great food for a great price. Do. To drive this city. Walk, cab or you can find a bicycle rickshaw to carry you. No spa on premise, you have to use the St. Regis across the street, a drawback.
