L'hôtel Babel occupe un bâtiment historique récemment rénové dans le quartier mythique de San Telmo, l'un des plus anciens de la ville.
Des milliers d'habitants et de touristes se rassemblent dans la place de Plaza Dorrego à proximité de l'hôtel, en particulier le dimanche, pour visiter le marché d'antiquités, les restaurants et les cafés, ou pour apprécier les spectacles de tango organisés en plein air.
