Sumahan è idealmente situato sulle rive del Bosforo nella parte asiatica della città e offre una vista spettacolare ai suoi ospiti. L'hotel è vicino di Çengelköy, un vero e proprio quartiere con case di legno, ristoranti di pesce e passeggiate. Le case lungo il Bosforo sono le case signorili, tra cui la residenza del Pascià Abdullah, figlio di un barcaiolo che divenne Gran Visir e il palazzo reale in cui è stato eletto l'ultimo sultano ottomano.
