"Excelente !!!! Inforgettable e sob medida !!!"
"An alpine gem!"
I have just spent a wonderful week in this very comfortable, chic hotel with family and friends. We were a large party, occupying two chalets and one extra room. The chalets are bright and comfortable and we loved the flexibility that having our own accommodation gave us. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant but also had our own kitchen and sitting rooms to relax in. Having stayed in many chalets and traditional hotels over the years, Aiguille Grive seemed to offer the best of all worlds!! Each chalet has balconies with wonderful views on one side and a large deck on the other where we could sit in the sun after a days skiing watching the children toboggan and play in the snow behind the hotel. So wonderful not to have to take them somewhere else to make a snowman as you have the perfect snowy area on your doorstep!! The restaurent offers a fantastic buffet breakfast and a delicious, elegant three course dinner. Lunch is also available a la carte. An unexpected bonus was how well they accommodated my vegan daughter. The staff took great care to understand what she could and couldn't eat and the food they produced was delicious and beautifully presented. In addition to the restaurant there is a wonderfully comfortable and chic bar for drinks before (and after) dinner. In spite of being very late in the season, we were still able to ski to the lifts in the morning and back to the hotel at the end of the day although we did sometimes come down in the bubble as obviously the snow lower down was deteriorating. Higher up the snow was still lovely. The ski hire shops are down the hill and the staff are happy to drive you to and from in the hotel buggy. All in all, a really wonderful experience in a unique establishment.
"Sweet Spot for Spring Skiing, Charming Service, Delicious Vegetarian Delights!"
We agree with the huge number of "Excellent" reviews and almost unanimous 5-star ratings. We avoid repeating points made in other reviews. Instead we focus on the lovely way the hotel interacted with our needs and created a wonderful memorable experience. We are a Vegetarian couple who travel widely, speak many languages, ski for over 30-years in European countries. We have a good idea of the competing range of accommodation options. We know the French Alps and Les Arcs but we did not previously know Hotel L’Aiguille Grive. We found it searching the web. It seemed a new good fit with our wishes: good Spring snow, ski-to-door, boutique decor, peaceful, relaxed natural environment. We were also inspired by the overwhelming number of positive reviews (85% "Excellent"; 10% "Very Good") and enthusiasm about food. Before we arrived, Hotel L’Aiguille Grive wrote us to ask if we had special needs; we explained that we are Vegetarian. After our first evening meal, the staff spoke with us and the director Julie emailed to ask if we were happy. They all spoke frankly about their capabilities and desire to learn more about serving the growing number of Vegetarians. This was thoughtful and personal. They listened to us with interest. We appreciated this. They asked what kinds of things they could do to serve us better. As a result, the next evening meal amazed us and exceeded our expectations. The staff and kitchen clearly had taken our input seriously. They pushed themselves to do their best to create something new that responded to our wishes and to make us happy. The entire evening was relaxed, enjoyable, beautiful, creative, intelligent and delicious. It also impressed us that the staff seemed to work as a team and aware of our wishes. Before, during and after the meal, many staff asked in natural, warm friendly ways if we were happy and if we would like to share more feedback on anything. There was a sense of happy working community. In our view, this is the sweet-spot for boutique-quality. It is not stuffy over-the-top formality. If you appreciate contact with people who seem to bring together "hearts, minds and skills" into genuinely care: this is the place. In summary, Hotel L’Aiguille Grive is good quality, personal, charming and cares about people. We respect, appreciate and enjoy this. There are many other positive things to say, such as good skiing and impressive views of natural surroundings, as you can read about in so many other positive reviews. We look forward to return. We hope you are fortunate to be able to enjoy and appreciate this special place as much as we do.
"A gem on the slopes"
If you are looking for a great location for skiing - on the slopes, ski in ski out, shortest walk ever to the equipment lockers -, very comfortable accommodation, great food and terrific customer service, then this is the place for you. Julie and her staff do everything they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible - nothing is too much trouble for them. It's not the place if it's lively and loud après-ski that you're after, but if you want good standard of rooms and high quality food and drink, and all on your doorstep, then Aiguille Grive is a great choice.
