L'hôtel Sumahan se trouve à proximité de Çengelköy, un quartier authentique avec des maisons en bois, des restaurants de poissons et des promenades. Les demeures au bord du Bosphore sont les demeures seigneuriales, notamment la résidence d'Abdullah Pacha, le fils d'un batelier qui est devenu Grand Vizir et le palais royal où le dernier sultan ottoman a été soulevé.
